Integrating Events into Process-Driven SOAs

Introduction

Chapter 3 introduced the basics about the combination of process-driven service-oriented architectures (SOAs) and event-driven architecture (EDA). In this context, it is important to note that a process instance runs in its own data and event space (In this chapter this is called the process space). If events outside the context of a process instance occur that need to be considered by the process instance, problems may arise in how to capture those events by the process instance. In this chapter, we call the external space where external events are raised the event space.
