Chapter 12. Completing the Models

12.1. Introduction

We now have a fairly complete set of diagrams, but some very important model elements must be completed: the performance and timing requirements must be allocated to the sub-modules, and the architecture module specifications must be prepared.

The customer is most interested in the total system performance rather than in its various contributing elements. It is, therefore, very important to state this total performance in a single, easily accessible place—the top-level system module specification. It is here that the whole system performance budgeting strategy must be stated and then justified through analytical and test results.
