5.3. Measurement of Processes

The project estimates of time, budget, and people lend themselves to better interpretation if the process that is supporting the software development can also be measured. The size of a process-component in its configuration and enactment state provides valuable input in the project estimations conducted by a project manager. Process measurement can be used along with project estimates wherein the process metrics will provide support for the iterative and incremental aspect of software development.
