Film Schools
The latter part of the 20th century has seen the emergence and proliferation of film and television schools. Whereas in the middle part of the century it was the goal of many young artists to express themselves by writing “the great American novel,” it is now their goal to make “the great American film.”
Everyone who received their acceptance letter and came to the first day of class thought that the guy next to them was the next Scorsese. After a few days you realize everyone is in about the same boat. That was a big relief to me.
