Sound Postproduction
The whole element of sound—both music and sound effects—was a rediscovery for me of what the story was. My first idea behind making the film was to tell a story visually, silently. So in the beginning I cut the film together without sound. I wanted to see if it worked. By first doing the images, then doing the sound—suddenly I could think of the story as being a whole set of sounds as well: the train station, the track boards flipping, salad crunching.
