Design Review
Designing to Ensure Quality
This chapter provides a fundamental understanding of quality as it pertains to the design review (D-R) process and discusses various processes viz. quality function deployment (QFD), design for six sigma (DFSS), mistake proofing (poka-yoke) techniques that are widely used in the industry to incorporate quality in the D-R process. It then provides the typical steps in a D-R process and outlines the importance of the key elements of a D-R system viz. soft–hard review, failure mode and effects analysis, and experimental design. Some case studies presented to explain the D-R process, DFSS, and the house of quality are also provided.
