In the first chapter of the book, we would like to introduce what deep learning (DL) is and how DL projects are typically carried out. The chapter begins with an introduction to DL, providing some insight into how it shapes our daily lives. Then, we will shift our focus to DL projects by describing how they are structured. Throughout the chapter, we will put extra emphasis on the first phase, project planning; you will learn key concepts such as the comprehension of business objectives, how to define appropriate evaluation metrics, identification of stakeholders, resource planning, and the difference between a minimum viable product (MVP) and a fully featured product (FFP).
