Hazard 13: Derelict Buildings

A demolition contractor is being prosecuted after a man was killed when a 13 tonne excavator and rubble fell on top of him. T. E. Scudder Limited is being prosecuted under section 2(1) of the Health and Safety at Work Act for failing to ensure the health and safety of its employee Michael Tranmore who was asphyxiated when part of the fourth floor of the Norwich Union building collapsed during demolition work in 1995.
