9.1 TYPES OF TRIPOD HEADS

There are many types and makes of tripod heads available to camera professionals. This chapter considers the friction, fluid, and geared heads—the three primary types found today—and describes the use of several common units representative of models generally available. Inclusion of specific manufacturers’ equipment, listed alphabetically, does not signify endorsement, nor does omission of other tripod heads or models connote discredit.
