Entering Text in a SmartShape Symbol
Begin a new diagram in Visio based on a blank document. Select the Text tool from the toolbar (the tool that looks like the capital letter A). You will notice your cursor changes to a plus sign (+) with a small page attached. This is your visual cue you are using the Text tool. Now click, hold, and drag out an area in which to enter text. Next, enter the phrase “Visio SmartShape symbols” and then click off of the text area. Switch back to the pointer tool.
