There are many ways to install IIS 8.0, from installing it as part of the Windows Server 2012 installation or adding IIS 8.0 to an existing server to upgrading a Windows Server 2008 and IIS 7.0 installation—not to mention automated or unattended installations.

In this chapter, we assume that you've read and understood the deployment planning issues discussed in Chapter 3, “Planning Your Deployment.” You might also want to scan several of the upcoming chapters so that you understand which additional features you might want to install. Chapter 5, “Administration Tools,” and Chapter 10, “Configuring Other Services,” may help you.

Future chapters will cover advanced configuration options for IIS 8.0. Although this chapter covers adding features to an existing IIS 8.0 installation, you may also want to look at Chapter 11, “Core Server,” and Chapter 18, “Programmatic Configuration and Management,” as companions to this chapter.
