IIS 8.0 Deployment Planning

Planning your IIS 8.0 deployment becomes easier after you've considered the issues in deploying the Windows Server 2012 operating system, but there are still decisions to be made. You need to ensure that your system and the operating system configuration meet the requirements of your IIS 8.0 deployment. You have some installation decisions to make, such as installing with the operating system, after the operating system is configured, or even installing as part of an upgrade from Windows Server 2008 and IIS 7.0. You will need to plan IIS 8.0 security, such as whether you'll use IIS accounts for managing users and IIS 8.0 installations. You'll need to plan for shared configurations if you're using a web farm and choose to use shared configurations. And you'll need to plan for replication among sites. There are also some IIS-specific planning decisions related to development environments and production environments. The installation of IIS 8.0 is covered in the next chapter, and some of these topics are discussed in more depth throughout the book; therefore, part of your planning should include reading relevant sections of this book for specific information.
