This chapter details the initial assessment perspectives of external, DMZ, internal, and critical points of presence. Initialization perspectives are the launch point for offensive security assessment from which the assessors begin interacting with target systems for enumeration and exploitation. Each perspective is contrasted by its ability to assess and exploit vulnerabilities in an organization. Then, the perspectives are compared by their efficiency and manner of attack surface scrutiny.
