WHAT IS AN OS DESIGN?

An OS design is one of the Visual Studio 2008 project templates installed to the development station as part of the Platform Builder for Windows Embedded Compact 7 software.

OS design is an integral part of the Windows Embedded Compact development process, providing the workspace to develop customized OS images, device drivers, and a programming support library for the target device.

An SDK, generated from the same OS design that generated the OS run-time image for the target device, is needed to support application development for the target device.

Subprojects can be added to the OS design to provide the workspaces to develop device drivers, programming libraries, and applications for the target device.
