DEVELOP AN OS DESIGN
This section works through the exercises to create an OS design project, stepping through the process to customize the OS design and generate a customized OS run-time image for the target device.
The OS design project is created with the cloned BSP from Chapter 6, “BSP Introduction,” using an eBox-3310A as the target device.
To successfully complete the exercises in this chapter, the development station needs to have the following software installed:
- Visual Studio 2008 with Service Pack 1
- Platform Builder for Windows Embedded Compact 7
- BSP cloned from the previous chapter, MyBSP
- AutoLaunch_v200_Compact7 component
- CoreCon_v200_Compact7 component

OS Design Wizard
The Compact 7 development environment includes an OS Design Wizard that greatly simplifies the tasks you need to perform to create the initial OS design project workspace. When creating a new OS design project, VS2008 launches the OS Design Wizard, steps through the project creation process, and provides templates to use as the starting point to develop a customized OS image.
