Increasing Productivity and Reliability by Investing in Health Care

EMPLOYERS HAVE BEEN CALLED the “new gatekeepers” of health care and health in recognition of the crucial importance of working conditions.1 At the same time, there has been a growing realization that just as work is a major determinant of health, so does workers’ health play a key role in the quality and productivity of their work. An increasing amount of research evidence shows that companies can reap economic benefits from investing in the health of their workers.
