Abstract:
In this chapter we will focus on the role of resident renal progenitor cells and non-renal derived stem/progenitor cells in renal regeneration as a platform for cell-based therapy. We will also discuss renal developmental studies, as they improve our understanding of the cellular biology and molecular cues involved in renal regeneration, which may assist in the development of new approaches for treatment of chronic kidney disease.
