While you can apply some requirements to any tools (for example, you will want to require any web-based tool to use HTTPS), other requirements are going to be tool-specific. The remainder of this appendix discusses some key tools you will want to add to your toolbox and some considerations when picking them.
One thing to note before we start looking at tool types: there’s not a one-to-one mapping. You can sometimes use the same tool for multiple purposes. Using the back tracker as a ticket system is common, and many bug tracking tools these days include kanban-like functionality. A multipurpose tool may not always be the best fit for any single role, but it’s sometimes worth having slightly worse functionality in a single place. ...
