8.1: A single-photon wavepacket interaction

To show the practical application of few-photon FSMEs, in this section and as shown in Fig. 2, we present the example of a two-level QE [quantum dots (Reed, 1993), ions (Häffner, Roos, & Blatt, 2008), naturally occurring alkali metallic atoms such as cesium or rubidium (Daley, Boyd, Ye, & Zoller, 2008), artificially prepared superconducting qubits (Kjaergaard et al., 2020), etc.]. In the following, we first present the single-photon case and discuss both analytic and numerical results. For the two- and three-photon problems, it turns out that analytic results become rather mathematically involved and, therefore, for these cases we only report the numerical results. ...
