Laying the Foundation: Education

Chapter 1 demonstrated that university graduates have difficulty finding jobs, and that performance and improvement of university graduates on skills such as critical thinking, complex reasoning, and written communication are disappointing. A variety of reasons exist for these trends. One of the key factors that influences student learning relates to what happens in the classroom, and what happens in the classroom relates to pedagogy and the design of courses and programs.
