The overall purpose of communications management is to oversee and control project data processes from collection to categorization to dissemination to utilization and decision making.

In an Adaptive/Agile Environment, the emphasis on communications is simplicity, directness, and face-to-face conversations. The “Agile Manifesto” addresses communication, valuing working software over comprehensive documentation. Although documentation has value, working functionality has more importance.
