Evolutionary Processes

The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language (2000) defines evolution as “a gradual process in which something changes into a different and usually more complex or better form.” Perhaps an even better term would be adaptation, defined in the same dictionary as “something. . .that is changed or changes so as to become suitable to a new or special application or situation.” Both views, however, embrace change as a positive force in the development of an entity.
