A project is unlikely to succeed without an effective steering committee. The steering committee (sometimes called a project board or business team) is an organism whose mission is to help complete each project successfully. The relationship between a project and a steering committee is similar to the relationship between the board of directors and a company. There may even be a hierarchy of committees from project up to program and system.
