Regional trade in South Asia: findings from three indices
Abstract:
This chapter discusses the significance of South Asia in world GDP, members’ trade openness and the level of intra-regional trade. It provides findings from the trade intensity index (TII), the index of revealed comparative advantage (IRCA) and the trade complementarity index (TCI) over a period of time. The chapter attempts to examine the pattern in these three indices over time, and explores whether they provide significant evidence for promoting trade cooperation within the region.
