The lock industry in Aligarh, metalware industry in Moradabad and glassware industry in Firozabad (all located in northern India) are traditional Indian industries initiated by craftsmen under royal sponsorship. One must look into the history of these industries to get a critical view on their present situation, especially the effects of major changes in industry structure.
