It would be great to be able to list five must-have stocks for the period between now and 2030. But life doesn't work that way because circumstances change, interests vary, and capabilities fluctuate—stock prices even moreso in the short term. Instead, we are going to lay out what we think are going to be exciting business and personal investment sectors for you to consider in the coming years. The point of listing these areas is not to see whether you are already doing business in any of them but for you to ask yourself, “How can I do business in that market going forward?” This is consistent with one of our favorite quotes from the late W. Edwards Deming, eminent scholar and teacher in American academia: “It is not necessary to change. Survival is not mandatory.” It is also consistent with the question we are very fond of asking: What's next? To change is not only to survive but also to give yourself a chance to grow and succeed even more rapidly than you have in the past. See if you can't discover or, even better, invent a way to participate in one of the following trends.
