Public Policy Making: The Role of Judiciary
The goal of this chapter is to offer a brief overview of the legitimate role of the state and, more particularly, the role of the judiciary in public policymaking. In this chapter, we will first take a broad outlook of the legitimate role of the state in a democracy and then we focus more on the judicial roles of the state like administration of justice, interpretation, and application of laws, protection of rights, guardian of the constitution, law enforcement, conducting judicial inquiries, advisory functions, arbiter role in a federal system, judicial review, role in law-making, and role of the judiciary in policy-making.
