So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Just as with every other occupational designation in the military, public affairs has its own set of standards, qualifications, and expectations. Part IV of this text goes into some depth on the education and training of Public Affairs Officers (PAOs), the process of and qualifications for accession, and service unique characteristics. While the details of these may differ slightly by service, they are all basically in alignment. This chapter covers foundational guidance and ethical and legal considerations for which every PAO, regardless of service, is accountable.
The primary philosophy/guidance under which every PAO operates is the DOD Principles of Information contained in DoD Directive 5122.05.1
