6Roadmap Toward a Network Infrastructure for Public Safety and Security

6.1 Introduction

There are a number of emergency services that utilize communication pathways between personnel responding to emergency events and/or preparing to respond to events. The various communication pathways used by emergency response personnel share critical information related to safety and security of both personnel responding and those personnel who are receiving the emergency aid. The importance of network connectivity and the ability to effectively and reliably communicate between responding agencies and individual responders is understood, without the need for much clarification.

6.2 Evolution Toward Broadband

In terms of quality critical communications, public safety organizations have reserved the best networks whose efficiency is based on voice services. Services in public service organizations are conveyed through digital technologies with dedicated network implementation that ensures that they remain effective. Government‐controlled operators ensure that the dedicated approach ensures that there is certainty of operations in providing critical services to citizens.
