Why are we concerned with electrons, photons, and hydrogen? As you will see here and in Chapter 12, the Sun is composed mostly of hydrogen whose electrons produce the photons that strike our planet, heating it (sometimes more than we would like). We need to understand how electrons generate photons and how they give photons the different frequencies that comprise the spectrum of electromagnetic energy.
