Summary

In this chapter, we continued working on the online advertising click-through prediction project. This time, we were able to train the classifier on the entire dataset with millions of records, with the help of the parallel computing tool, Apache Spark. We have discussed the basics of Spark, including its major components, deployment of Spark programs, programming essentials of PySpark, and the Python interface of Spark. And we programmed using PySpark to explore the click log data, perform one-hot encoding, cache intermediate results, develop classification solutions based on the entire click log dataset, and evaluate performance.
