5. Overview of the House of Quality
We’ll now expand the very brief overview of the House of Quality (HOQ) that was given in Chapter 1. While still an overview, the description in this chapter is considerably more detailed than the previous one. In this chapter, we introduce each of the steps of the House of Quality, and we discuss what information each step produces and how the information is used. Once we’ve completed this overview, we look at each step individually.
The House of Quality is the central construct of QFD. Most of Parts II and IV of this book deal with the House of Quality. Other parts of the book, especially Part V, describe QFD as a process that links the various phases of the development process together, ...
