10. Technical Correlations

We have mentioned in earlier chapters that QFD is a key to concurrent engineering because it facilitates team members communicating with each other. This chapter presents an explicit mechanism for mapping out exactly what kind of communication must occur on the development project. The Technical Correlations section (Figure 10-1) provides the mechanism. It shows for which technical areas close communication and collaboration are important, and for which they are not. It also shows us where design bottlenecks may occur, and therefore where design breakthroughs are needed.
