The quantum computing ecosystem is more complicated than many people realize. To get value out of quantum computing today, you need to understand the main types of solutions and what each one is best for.

In this chapter we describe how to map different kinds of computing challenges to different kinds of quantum computing solutions that will unfold over time, so you can get off to a productive start with this emerging technology. Then, as quantum computing advances, you can get more and more value from it.

Then we introduce quantum-inspired solutions, a surprise contender as the near-term winner for useful quantum computing technology. Chapters 9, 10, and 11 walk you through the quantum computing hardware and software stack and the different kinds of quantum computing solutions available today.
