1. Getting Started with QuickBooks

Getting Started

Before you can use QuickBooks Pro to manage your company’s finances, you need to install it and configure it for your use.

Installation is as easy as drag-and-drop, as you’ll learn in the first part of this chapter. Copying QuickBooks to your computer’s hard disk takes just minutes.

Configuring QuickBooks is a bit more time-consuming. Fortunately, QuickBooks comes with a New Company Setup Assistant, which makes the job easy. You’ll use it to enter general information about your company, as well as specific information for accounts and opening balances.

This chapter explains how to install QuickBooks and use the New Company Setup Assistant to set basic company options.
