Quick-and-Dirty Windows 8

If you’re new to Microsoft Windows 8, you need to know a few things about the Windows 8 user interface. Although this appendix doesn’t reveal anything earthshaking, it does provide a quick-and-dirty overview of some basics you need to know to get around.

If you’ve used other Windows applications and already spent at least a little bit of time using Windows 8 (and so know how to start programs and how to stop Windows 8), you probably don’t need to read this appendix because you already know the material it covers.

I won’t bore you with technical details. The information here, though, will enable you not only to operate Quicken, but also to converse easily about the newest versions of Windows at cocktail parties, over lunch, or with the guy at the computer store.

If you want more information, you may want to read a book such as Windows 8 For Dummies by Andy Rathbone (Wiley).
