Understanding, not understanding, or simply ignoring someone’s national, regional, professional, or organizational culture can be the difference between success and failure.
This doesn’t mean, though, that once people work in the same organization, they share the same assumptions, values, and objectives. They’ll probably have many in common: an understanding of what the organization does, and a desire to see it succeed, for example. But once people sift into different divisions and teams, differences become apparent.
