When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Taking USB control further
The theory and method of control used for the USB missile device can be applied to very complex devices such as the Xbox 360's Kinect (a special 3D camera add-on for the Xbox game console) as well.
Adafruit's website has a very interesting tutorial written by Limor Fried (also known as Ladyada) on how to analyze and investigate USB commands; access it at http://learn.adafruit.com/hacking-the-kinect.
This is well worth a look if you intend to reverse engineer other USB items. In this chapter, we have used Raspberry Pi to control remotely activated mains sockets, to send commands over serial connections from another computer, and to control the GPIO remotely.
