Taking Television Seriously
Despite the reality behind our nation's affinity for television and our own ravenous televiewing, most of us do not take the medium or its programming very seriously. For something so seemingly popular, pervasive, and potentially problem-atic, television has rarely been taken in earnest or treated with any level of apprehension or appreciation by the typical viewer.
