Photographers have long been seduced by the luminous lure of cities after dark. As the sun goes down the lights come on, and what was nondescript during the day suddenly comes alive at night.
Here Luca Campigotto uses a slow shutter speed to transform a city street into an artery of red and white light. As the shutter has stayed open for a few seconds, the passing cars have become nothing more than long trails of brilliant light.
When shooting on slow shutter speeds, make sure your camera doesn’t move. If it does, everything in your image will looked blurred. This is called ‘camera shake’.
