Let's start by talking, what is your database? A lot of us overthink and say, “I don't have a database.” Well, guess what? You do. It's called your phone. And if everyone you know on there is still on your phone only and not in a customer relationship management (CRM) system, then it's time to get them out of here.

One of the things that we love to tell people to use is MCBackUp. It's an app that you use to export everyone from your phone to an Excel spreadsheet. And then you can dump the file straight into your CRM.

Do you have a CRM? If not, it's time to get one, whether it's Salesforce, Follow Up Boss, or Chime. The challenge is the same. You have to use it to its full potential. Your database is like a directory of everyone you know or have talked to or who has visited any of your websites.

Your CRM is more than just a list of contacts. The data gathered from your transactions will assist you in running a more efficient and lucrative business.

If you aren't using a CRM to its fullest potential, here are my five rules that will help you develop your business into a gold mine:

  1. Create a strong database.
  2. Add to your pipeline every day.
  3. Maintain constant communication with your database.
  4. Ensure all contact information is updated and correct.
  5. Support and service to all the prospects.
