Chapter 16The Process
By speaking with high achievers and business owners, I've learned that everything you undertake needs to be divided into manageable steps. In this section, I'll demonstrate how to do this using a process I've dubbed “The Process.”
These are the things that will be my priorities for the month. I will make a blueprint out of them, continuing from the previous chapter when we discussed our priorities. (If you haven't read this chapter yet, please do so first.)
Professional and collegiate elite athletes increasingly adhere to a philosophy known as “the process.” It is a philosophy that Alabama coach Nick Saban developed, and it states that the process of living is putting together the right actions in the right order, one after another. As a result, you work on it and then leave the process to continue.
It also enables you to shift your attention from all your issues to all your goals, viewing them as insurmountable challenges that you'll never overcome and break it into the new action steps you're developing.
So let's just focus on the one priority from the previous chapter regarding the spouse. The first step is to add this to my calendar and connect with my spouse. I am going to be very specific about what we are going to do. I have that scheduled for that day. I will briefly summarize it for the next week or two. Be very specific as to what I'm going to do at that time. I'll make sure to fully transition so that I can be present.
