CHAPTER 3 The Impact of Being Overwhelmed
So we’ve established that we’re all harried and unfocused (even if we’re not, we feel it!). But why is it a problem? In this chapter, we explore what being in a state of constant busyness is doing to us; not only our minds but our bodies and the way we experience life. Above all, we’ll explain how being forever caught up in the whirlwind of life actually stops us being able to carry out the cognitive processes that allow us to focus. When it comes down to it, it’s a matter of physiology and the chemicals in our brains. But we don’t have to be at the mercy of these chemicals, we can manipulate and control them if we know how and the first step is always awareness.
