As the supreme god, Odin possessed multiple attributes that allowed him to play the appropriate role in many different situations. He could be a sage, an inspirational poet, a savage and vengeful warrior, or simply a mysterious pilgrim who sits for a while by the fire and offers a few words of uncanny wisdom and moves on.
