A critical activity in the development of a real-time system is to identify potential timing requirements (or constraints) of the system and capture the time-related information in appropriate system models. In this chapter, we start with a scenario-based approach to the elicitation of timing constraints. Our focus then switches to the Analysis Models package of the real-time RT-UML profile. This package contains two subprofiles: one is dedicated to performance analysis and the other is dedicated to schedulability analysis. The concepts, stereotypes, and tags defined in these two subprofiles can be used to annotate a system design with desired timing requirements or schedulability requirements. ...
