Abstract
Field programmable gate array (FPGA)-based real-time simulators can achieve significantly lower time steps compared to processor-based simulators . This chapter focuses on the discussion of FPGA-based real-time simulation of power electronics. The architecture of FPGA-based simulation at both the system level and device level is introduced. Then the issues about FPGA hardware design, implementation, and optimization for the real-time simulation are presented. Moreover the generic programmable FPGA solver is presented.
