Project 1: Blue Moon
For this example, I wanted to use an early morning shot of the New Orleans skyline that I had captured as the basis for a fun and futuristic-looking composite that included photographs, vector art, and 3D content. The source images for this project are the skyline shot, a shot of a full lunar eclipse, an Adobe Illustrator CS4 “orb,” a 3D “orb” generated only with Photoshop, and a background image (the starry sky) from NASA. The idea was just to let the imagination go; sometimes compositing is just about having fun, so don’t be afraid to experiment!—Dan
