The Importance of a Tripod
For those times when you don't have to be concerned with split-second mobility and traveling ultra light, then using a tripod is an excellent way to improve the sharpness and composition of your images. Trying to handhold a shot with a shutter speed below of a second is a gamble at best. With longer focal-length lenses, the minimum shutter speed is even higher. The slower exposure will record even the slightest camera movement caused by unsteady hands or the downward motion of your finger pressing the shutter button.
