You can connect your digital camera directly to your computer and transfer your images using that connection, but that's an inconvenient approach because it turns the camera into an oversized card reader that isn't as easy to work with. Instead, we recommend getting a card reader that will allow you to connect your digital media cards directly to the computer (Figure 8.15).
