6. Disable Fonts and Deal with Duplicates
You don’t have to remove a font when you just want it out of commission temporarily (until, say, you have to do your monthly newsletter again): you can simply disable it through Font Book.
Disabling is one way to handle the duplicate fonts that find their way into your system, but it’s not the only way. You can, for instance, let Tiger take care of handling the duplicates through its access-order hierarchy, or remove certain duplicates completely—as long as you know what really constitutes a duplicate, and know which duplicates to keep.
